Chávez-Muro, José de Jesús

Overview

Jose de Jesus Chavez is a Research Professor (M50) at the School of Engineering and Sciences, Tecnológico de Monterrey, Guadalajara Campus. His career is distinguished by a strong international presence, notably serving as a postdoc, a tenure-track researcher, and a guest researcher at TU Delft, Netherlands (2016, 2017 2021, and 2022-now, respectively). During his time in Europe, he actively collaborated on high-impact European Union projects, including MIGRATE 2020, PROMOTiON 2020, URSES-NOW, and ERIGRID. Holding a PhD from Cinvestav (2009) and having completed a doctoral stay at the University of Alberta, Dr Chavez has held senior academic responsibilities, including serving as a research professor from 2010 to 2016 and as Chair of the Graduate and Research Program in Electrical Engineering at the Technological Institute of Morelia (2014-2016). Currently, he contributes to advancing the field through key leadership roles, including Associate Editor for Elsevier s e-Prime: Advances in Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Energy. IEEE Senior Member. Active Member of CIGRE B5.83, focusing on protection for modern distribution networks. His primary research interests include the development of primary and secondary protection systems, wide-area protection schemes, digital protective relays, real-time simulation, and the control of inverter-based resources (IBR).
