Reyna-Lara, Adriana

Overview

In this era of abundant data where we can accurately capture how society interacts across physical and digital spaces my work centers on understanding how collective natural and social phenomena emerge, adapt, and persist. By reconstructing daily mobility networks for social groups and entire populations, I analyze the spread of ideas, information, and diseases, with a particular focus on how social structure the topology of the system shapes propagation dynamics. A key goal of my research is to design effective epidemic-containment policies that optimize scarce resources. Currently, I study the topological characteristics of Mexico City and their relationship with social inequality, while maintaining an active collaboration with the research group at the University of Zaragoza. Together, we investigate higher-order interactions in social systems and their influence on epidemic spread and containment. I am a full-time faculty member at Tecnológico de Monterrey, with nearly three years of experience teaching intensive physics and mathematics courses to engineering students. Beyond the classroom, I contribute to curriculum updating, standardization, and continuous improvement by incorporating data-informed practices, active learning methodologies, and resources aligned with emerging disciplinary trends. As academic coordinator for Electrostatics, Electromagnetism, and Basic Statistics, I lead curriculum-alignment initiatives, faculty training, and the assessment of learning outcomes. This role has strengthened my expertise in academic management, faculty leadership, strategic design of student-centered learning experiences, and the coordination of content across diverse academic programs. I received the Educational Innovation Prize at the 2025 National Faculty Meeting for TECverso, an initiative that connects Expedition FEMSA research with professional education to transform learning and promote multidisciplinarity across the institution. I am also a member of INGENIA, a group dedicated to advancing the participation of women in STEAM fields, and a Level 1 member of the National System of Researchers (SNI). In addition, I host the segment Scientific Chronicles on the science-outreach podcast Laboratorio Radioactivo, where each week we explore the brilliant minds that have transformed history and reshaped our understanding of the world.
