Sainz-Santamaria, Jose Jaime
Overview
Dr. Jaime Sainz Santamaría is Director of Research and Faculty Development at the School of Social Sciences and Government, Tecnológico de Monterrey, where he helps faculty advance frontier research and build strong academic careers through recruitment, mentoring, and institutional capacity building. His academic work focuses on policy design, environmental governance, and sustainability, with particular interest in water policy and urban environments. His publications include articles in Public Administration and Development, Policy Design and Practice, Cities, Urban Forestry & Urban Greening, Climate & Development, Journal of Environmental Management, Water Resources and Economics, El Trimestre Económico, and Gestión y Política Pública.
Prior to academia, he served in Mexico¿s National Institute of Ecology (federal government) and advised local governments on environmental policy. After completing his doctorate, he joined CIDE as a research professor for a decade and served as director of its Región Centro campus for five years. He is a member of Mexico¿s National System of Researchers (SNII). Dr. Sainz Santamaría holds a Ph.D. in Environmental Science and Management from the University of California, Santa Barbara; a Master of Public Policy (MPP) from ITAM; and a B.A. in Political Science from UAM.
