Cuevas-Díaz Durán, Raquel

Overview

Dr. Raquel Cuevas obtained her PhD degree in Biotechnology from Tecnológico de Monterrey in Mexico in 2014 working in the Cell Therapy research group. Her thesis involved the genomic characterization of adipose-derived stem cells and the identification of regulatory modules driving differentiation using time-series gene expression profiles. In 2015 - 2018, she joined Dr. Jiaqian Wu's lab as a postdoctoral research fellow in the Vivian L. Smith Department of Neurosurgery at McGovern Medical School, University of Texas. Since the end of 2018, Dr. Cuevas was hired as a full-time research professor at the School of Medicine of Tecnologico de Monterrey and as part of the Bioengineering and Regenerative Medicine group. Dr. Raquel Cuevas is currently a member of the Mexican System of Researchers (SNI), level 1. She has experience analyzing next generation sequencing (NGS) data such as ChIP-Seq, ATAC-Seq, RIP-Seq, and RNA-Seq in bulk and single cell resolution. Her work has been published in prestigious journals including Plos Genetics, Cell Reports, Neuropathology and Applied Neurobiology, eNeuro, and Scientific Reports. Dr. Cuevas' main interests are characterizing the transcriptomic and epigenomic changes occurring during cell differentiation in brain development and in neurodegenerative diseases.
