Alcala-Gonzalez, Antonio

Overview

I have over 17 years of experience at Tecnológico de Monterrey as an English and Literature professor and over 15 years as a director. I have been in charge of developing and coordinating projects for Semana i, in addition to being part of the EAAC (Design Team) for the LLE Program. I have also been a member of UF design teams (semanas, materias, and bloques). I was part of the design team and also coordinated the experience with international students known as iSummer. I was also the coordinator of the Language Center on the ccm campus for nine years and the Director of the Department of Humanistic Studies on the same campus for two years (both roles included coordinating group programming, publicity, and academic aspects of classes taught to students and faculty on campus, as well as external audiences). Since 2022, I have been the Director of the EHE Division at CSF, where, in addition to the aforementioned roles, I oversee the student recruitment and graduation processes for EHE programs on campus. I am also a member of the Admissions and Scholarship campus committees and part of the board that makes several academic and administrative decisions that impact the campus. Regarding external organizations, I am a member of the executive committee of the Forum for Gothic Studies at the MLA, a member of the IGA (international network for studies on the Gothic in literature and art), and the founder and permanent organizer of the International Congress of Gothic Literature, held every two years in Mexico City since 2008. My academic research has led to the editing and publication of articles and book chapters, focusing on Gothic and horror literature in English and Spanish. I also belong to the Humanities for Sustainable Development Research Group and to the editorial board of the journals Entorno and the Palgrave Gothic series.
