Cruz-Sandoval, Marco Antonio

Overview

Marco Antonio Cruz Sandoval obtained his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Tecnológico de Monterrey, Campus Monterrey, Mexico, in 2010. Between 2014 and 2016, he completed his Master of Science in Sustainability Science and Technology at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya-BarcelonaTech in Barcelona, Spain, and at Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg, Sweden. He earned his Ph.D. in Sustainability from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya-BarcelonaTech in June 2021. His research primarily focuses on resilient and sustainable urban environments, with a particular emphasis on social, environmental, and spatial justice. One notable achievement of his work is the introduction of Compositional Data Analysis (CoDa) to the specialized literature on multivariate statistical analysis of urban phenomena. Consequently, his studies have been featured in high-impact journals. His statistical and geostatistical analyses aim to influence policies that support the Sustainable Development Goals, ensuring no one is left behind. He has worked as a postdoctoral researcher in the Interdisciplinary Research Group (IRG) Research for Complexity (R4C) at the Institute for the Future of Education (IFE) at Tecnologico de Monterrey, focusing on citizen science, social entrepreneurship, and complex thinking. More recently, he served as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Center for the Future of Cities in the Science of Cities Interdisciplinary Research Group. He is also a candidate for the National System of Researchers (SNI-C) for the 2023-2026 term.
