Fostering metacognitive process using active learning in a mechatronic engineering course Academic Article in Scopus uri icon

abstract

  • © 2020 IEEE.This document shows some results observed when applying the Active Learning methodology to develop and consolidate the metacognitive skills of students in the field of Mechatronics Engineering. As a novelty, the technique called Challenge is proposed and used as the driving element of the approach. The metacognitive pedagogical agents that intervene in the meta-learning process are specified; the need to create contexts and learning environments closer to a real situation is established, which motivate students to be part of the process so that they can acquire the ability to modify their cognitive techniques and, in this way, develop their own self-learning processes and generate new knowledge. The Likert scale is used as the instrument to measure the impact of the methodology.
