Empowering Climate Awareness: A Social Entrepreneurship Training Approach Chapter in Scopus uri icon

abstract

  • The imminence of climate change challenges the contemporary world concerning all countries and their institutions. Universities are not exempt from the responsibility of addressing it. Young people are a valuable resource for innovative proposals to address social issues, so educational institutions should foster skills for developing more engaged social commitment and awareness. This article presents a study conducted by two Latin American universities, one in Mexico and the other in Chile, through courses on social entrepreneurship focused on developing proposals to combat climate change in their regions. The intention was to analyze the level of self-perception of young people in both countries regarding their social entrepreneurship skills, assessing if there were significant differences. The main finding identified a statistically significant difference only in the indicator associated with social awareness and value, which, showing a certain level of agreement in the population, opens the need to assess other factors that could influence students¿ levels of responsibility and commitment. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.
