- Holds a degree in Mathematics from the Faculty of Physical-Mathematical Sciences at the University of Guadalajara.

Dr. Astengo-Noguez has served as a professor at both undergraduate and master's levels across various campuses, including Guadalajara, Morelia, Chihuahua, and Monterrey. He was the Director of the Department of Basic Sciences and a Departmental Teaching Instructor. Furthermore, he delivered extension courses and consultancy for various companies, working as a Senior Consultant on projects with firms such as Kodak, IBM, HP, and Flextronics.
At the Academic Vice-Rectory of Tec de Monterrey, he served as Project Leader for the Teacher Training Program in Didactic Techniques (1999-2003). He received training in methodologies such as Problem-Based Learning (PBL) and Project-Oriented Learning (POL) at international institutions, including the universities of Twente (Netherlands), Aalborg (Denmark), Wheeling University, and Harvard. He is an accredited facilitator in POL and PBL.
At Monterrey Campus (2003-2009), he held roles as the General Coordinator of the PBL Technique for Engineering, Director of the Research and Innovation Modality, and Director of the ALPHA Outstanding Students Program.
He also served as the Chief Innovation Officer for Undergraduate Studies at the Rector's Office, Director of Research and Educational Innovation, and Founder and National Director of the Faculty Development and Educational Innovation Centers (CEDDIEs). For over four years, he represented Tecnológico de Monterrey in the European Consortium of Innovative Universities (ECIU), the Association of Pacific Rim Universities (APRU), and Universitas 21.
Innovation and Contributions:
Dr. Astengo-Noguez was a member of the research chair on "Distributed Knowledge Technologies and Intelligent Agents" and has published numerous articles in conferences, journals, and book chapters, receiving several awards. His notable contributions include the award-winning "Flock Traffic Navigation" proposal in New Zealand, an innovative system leveraging artificial intelligence techniques to optimize vehicular traffic without traffic lights.
He was the National Leader in the Design of the Data Science and Mathematics Engineering program, where he created courses such as Computational Biology, Differential Equation Systems, and Intelligent Systems Based on Uncertainty. He also directed the Numerical Analysis and Data Science Center at Monterrey Campus and founded the Institute of Innovation for the Development of the Video Game Industry¿an initiative of the Monterrey Interactive Media Cluster (MIMEC) and CSoft.
Additionally, he is an Apple Distinguished Educator and a founding member of Caféina, an association dedicated to promoting Artificial Intelligence in education. He is a member of the IEEE Gamification Task Force and the Latin American Network REDIVJ.
Currently, he is a professor in the Department of Sciences and the Department of Computational Sciences within the School of Engineering and Sciences.
