Hernández-Aguirre, Ángel Iván
Overview
I am a Biochemical Engineer, graduated from the Instituto Politécnico Nacional, with additional training in Computer Systems Engineering. My professional path took a profound turn when, after working in the food industry, chemical analysis, and administrative roles, I relocated to Querétaro to pursue a PhD in Engineering Sciences. This decision marked a pivotal moment in my career, as I combined scientific research with teaching and discovered a truly transformative vocation.
Although the doctoral programme does not have a formal specialisation, it has enabled me to build strong expertise in Bioprocesses, Biotechnology, Chemistry, Microbiology, Biochemistry, and Engineering. I have taken part in several research projects alongside undergraduate students through the Delfín Programme, producing scientific evidence that has led to publications in high-impact Q1 journals, with other articles currently under peer review. I am consistently engaged in writing both scientific papers and outreach articles, aiming to make knowledge more accessible and to bridge science with society.
As an educator, I have found a space where passion, purpose, and responsibility converge. My pedagogical approach is centred on breaking down the misconceptions often associated with STEM fields, encouraging meaningful and inclusive learning. My ultimate goal is clear: to help students move beyond a narrow, tunnelled view of science, and instead embrace a more holistic, critical, and empowering perspective of what they can achieve through knowledge.
