Esqueda-Merino, Donovan Manuel

Overview

Donovan Esqueda-Merino is a seasoned expert in innovation, product development, sustainability and R&D, holding a BSc in Mechatronics Engineering from Tecnológico de Monterrey, an MScR in Information, Systems, and Technologies from ENS Paris-Saclay, and an industrial PhD in Automatic Control and Energy Management from Centrale-Supélec. With over a decade of experience, he has successfully led engineering and innovation teams across diverse industries, including automotive, energy, and smart product design. As the founder of a start-up focused on designing smart products and an advanced mobility center, he has spearheaded groundbreaking projects like Nestlé's automatic coffee pod vending machine, now featured in over 150 stores across Latin America. Since 2015, he has been a dedicated professor at Tecnológico de Monterrey, where he teaches Technology-Based Product Development and Management, Innovation and Industry 4.0 topics. Promoted to Program Director for Mechatronics Engineering in 2021, he was also recognized as an ExpertODS by the Sustainable Development Solutions Network MX2030 and classified as Associate Professor in 2024. An active participant in the academic and entrepreneurial community, he has presented at major conferences such as INCmty and Campus Party, authored 26 scientific articles, and holds 5 patents. His professional certifications include Business Fundamentals from Harvard Business Publishing, Disciplined Agile Scrum Master from PMI, Managing Innovation and Design Thinking from HEC, Digital Marketing from the University of Chicago, and New Product Development Professional from PDMA, among others.
