Debbie collaborates on educational innovation projects with the EdTech company Algetec, based in Brazil. She is a reviewer of research articles for highly prestigious JCR magazines. She has also been an evaluator of CONCYTEP, SEP and SECIHTI (formerly CONAHCYT) projects. He has published research articles in high-impact journals in the areas of automatic control (singular systems, sliding mode control, differential flatness, and strong observability) and educational innovation (digital shadows and remote laboratories). His areas of interest include: control of non-holonomic systems, fault identification, power systems, energy efficiency, vibrations, solitons, symmetries and bifurcations in differential-algebraic systems, robotics, data science, artificial intelligence, medical device development, and educational innovation.
Debbie is member of the National System of Researchers since 2018. In 2007, she received the B.Sc degree in Electronics Engineering from the Universidad Tecnologica de la Mixteca, Huajuapan de León, Oaxaca. She received the M.Sc., and D.Sc., degrees in Automatic Control from Centro de Investigacion y de Estudios Avanzados del Instituto Politecnico Nacional (CINVESTAV-IPN) in 2011 and 2015, respectively. She occupied a postdoctoral position at the Faculty of Engineering at UNAM. She is IEEE senior member, IEEE Women in Engineering (WIE) 2025-2026 Puebla section Chair, and IEEE Student Branch Counselor.
