Lozano-Gutiérrez, Gerardo Iván

Overview

Dr. Iván Lozano holds a degree in Chemical Engineering from Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla (BUAP), which he earned in 2009. He then pursued a Master¿s degree at the same institution, during which he completed a research stay at Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. He was awarded his Master of Science degree in 2012. He completed his Ph.D. studies through a joint supervision program between University of Guadalajara and Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. His doctoral training included on-site academic activities at both institutions and a research stay at the University of Southampton (UK). He earned a dual doctoral degree: a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering Sciences and a Ph.D. in Electrochemistry, graduating with Cum Laude honors and receiving the International Doctorate distinction from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. Following his doctoral work, Dr. Lozano undertook a postdoctoral fellowship (funded by CONACYT) at BUAP, which concluded in late 2019. He then joined Tecnológico de Monterrey as a part-time professor, where he currently teaches undergraduate courses in mathematics, physics, and subjects related to chemical and biotechnological processes. These include Material and Energy Balances, Bioreactor Design, and Transport Operations, among others. He is a member of Mexico¿s National System of Researchers (SNI) and is actively involved in the Water 360° research group, where he contributes to projects focused on water treatment using advanced electrochemical oxidation techniques. Most recently, he was part of the winning team in the "Water Circularity and Recovery Challenge", where they aim to develop an electrochemical wastewater treatment system for the soft drink industry.
