Overview
Dr. Christian Scheckhuber studied Biology at the Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main in Germany. After his Master of Science he embarked on a PhD thesis in the laboratory of Prof. Dr. Heinz D. Osiewacz (Goethe University) which specializes in developmental biology using the fungus Podospora anserina as a model organism. His PhD thesis was awarded with distinction in 2006. Christian continued his studies in molecular cell biology of fungi in the labs of Prof. Dr. Ida van der Klei (University of Groningen, The Netherlands) and Prof. Dr. Andreas Reichert (Goethe University, Germany). After his postdoctoral stay at the Senckenberg Institute of Natural Sciences Christian moved to Monterrey as a visiting professor at the CINVESTAV institute.
Since 2020 he is working as professor at the Tec de Monterrey Campus CDMX. His main research areas are molecular cell biology, biochemistry, biotechnology and microbiology. Christian is a National Researcher (SNI) Level I and a member of the 'Grupo de Investigación con Enfoque Estratégico' (GIEE) Bioengineering.
Christian is listed as author on more than 30 publications in international journals, among these Nature Cell Biology, Journal of Biological Chemistry, Cell Reports and Metabolic Engineering. Christian has currently more than 1100 citations and an h index of 17 according to Google Scholar.
