Overview
Dr. Mauricio De la Cruz Ávila
Academic Profile
Dr. Mauricio De la Cruz Ávila is a highly skilled specialist in key areas of engineering such as Energy, CAD Design, CFD Research, Combustion Phenomena, Fluid Mechanics, Multiphase Flows, Multicomponent Flows, and Heat Transfer. He holds a solid academic background with a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, a Master¿s degree in Energy Systems Engineering, and a Bachelor¿s degree in Physics Engineering.
He is currently a member of the strategic research group Water¿360°, led by Dr. Rosanna Bonasia at Tecnológico de Monterrey, which focuses on advanced hydraulics analysis, fluid dynamics, and interactions with extreme natural phenomena. This affiliation complements his research lines in CFD simulation, hydrological risk assessment, and the development of sustainable solutions in civil and environmental engineering.
Dr. De la Cruz Ávila has completed postdoctoral stays at prestigious institutions such as the National Institute for Nuclear Research (ININ), the Center for Research and Advanced Studies (CINVESTAV), and the Institute of Engineering at UNAM (II UNAM), where he has made significant contributions to his field. He has published numerous articles in high-impact international scientific journals addressing topics such as CFD turbulence models, combustion, heat transfer, and multiphase flows.
In addition to his research experience, he has taught courses related to Computational Fluid Dynamics and Combustion at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM).
He maintains interinstitutional and international collaborations through research networks focused on the development of experimental and numerical techniques applied to energy and combustion engineering. Notably, he has participated in the ENERXICO project regulated by SENER-Hydrocarbons and the European Community. He also actively collaborates with the Autonomous University of Chihuahua (UACH) on joint projects, demonstrating his ability to work effectively in teams and coordinate interdisciplinary initiatives.
Dr. De la Cruz Ávila has more than 10 years of experience as an analytical-numerical and experimental researcher, with practical involvement in projects funded by renowned institutions such as CONACYT, Pemex, and the Mexican Petroleum Institute. Furthermore, he has received specialized training in advanced software tools relevant to his field, including ANSYS Fluent and COMSOL Multiphysics.
He is a polyglot, fluent in English, French, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese, and German, which enables him to collaborate and communicate effectively in international environments. Additionally, he holds a Bachelor¿s degree in Sports Training and has experience as a swimming coach and coordinator of sports activities.
