García-Díaz, Rocío

Overview

Rocío García Díaz has a Ph.D. in Economics from York University, England. She is currently a professor at the Tecnológico de Monterrey, and from 2004 to 2006, she worked in the Department of Economics at York University. She specializes in the area of welfare economics focusing on the study of measurement and normative aspects associated with the distribution of well-being. Her particular interests are the measurement of chronic poverty, normative aspects of multidimensional poverty and the impact of out-of-pocket health payments on households and their dynamics. She is the author of articles in scientific magazines and has lectured in national and international forums. She has worked as a consultant for the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO/WHO) and collaborated on a training workshop on monitoring financial health protection for member countries in March 2019. She is currently researching on the measurement of chronic catastrophic health payments; the measurement of horizontal and vertical inequity of out of pocket health expenditure; and effective access to health care and its impact on out-pocket health expenditures for households in Mexico. She is a Level II National Researcher of the Mexican National System of Researchers.
