Overview
Doctor in Communication from Pompeu Fabra University, Master in Literature from Western Michigan University, and Bachelor in Communication from Tecnológico de Monterrey, with postgraduate studies in photography at University of the Arts (San Francisco, California, online program). She is an associate-level research professor at the Department of Media and Digital Culture at Tecnológico de Monterrey Campus Querétaro, and a professor of Digital Narratives in the Master's in Digital Humanities, which is part of the core curriculum of the Doctorate in Humanistic Studies. Her research focuses on the intersection of interactive communication, digital culture, platforms, and humanities. She is interested in designing digital projects that foster learning, health, and well-being, especially for neurodiverse individuals, through justice-based design methods and digital ethnography.
Currently, she is involved in the following research projects:
Neurohumanities Lab, Linguistic Cartographies of Fear (funded projects), and Artificial Intelligence, Emotions, and Affects (self-funded project). Among her most relevant publications are the books: Digital Narrative, Continuity and Disruption in Narrative (2012), Transmedia Learning for Preverbal Children with Autism (2020), and From Transmedia Narratives to the Design of Transmedia Learning Experiences (2022), in addition to other publications in high-impact academic journals.
She has 25 years of teaching experience at Tecnológico de Monterrey, Western Michigan University, and University of California, San Diego. Since 2018, she has specialized in directing, mentoring, and pedagogically designing digital projects at the undergraduate and master's levels. She has designed, taught, and coordinated professors for this purpose in the Master's in Digital Humanities; she has coordinated the team of professors and final-year projects for the Bachelor in Communication and the Integrative Project for the Bachelor in Animation and Digital Art. Collectively, she has advised projects in video game design, immersive experiences, applications, digital projects in cultural heritage, as well as artistic, photographic, social, cultural, and educational projects.
She is a member of the editorial committees of the journals Contratexto (University of Lima), Virtualis (Tecnológico de Monterrey), and Albores (UAQ). She is a co-designer of the educational platform Aprendiz, a Learning Management System based on principles of digital culture, transmedia, and play. She is the mother of Andrés, who is neurodiverse and is now 15 years old.
