Olvera-Trejo, Daniel

Overview

Daniel holds degrees in Mechatronics Engineering and a Doctorate in Engineering Sciences. He has published over 80 JCR-indexed articles. His postdoctoral research at MIT focused on fabricating composite micro/nanoparticles via coaxial electrospray. As a visiting professor at Nanyang Technological University, he contributed to the development of printed flexible transistors. As a research professor, he focuses on machining dynamics, hybrid manufacturing (SLM + machining), additive manufacturing of microfluidic devices via SLA, and electrohydrodynamic processes for the synthesis of functional nanomaterials.. Among his ongoing projects are: Miniaturization of multiplexed coaxial electrospray sources for high-throughput nanoencapsulation. Evaluation of electrospray printing for the fabrication of thin film field-effect transistors. Design of a multivariable milling tool to mitigate vibration in the machining of superalloys. Tool path optimization for thin-wall machining and avoidance of chatter vibrations. Design of additively manufactured thin wall pre-forms to optimize hybrid manufacturing.
