Alejandra Chavez-Santoscoy is an Assistant Research Professor at Tecnológico de Monterrey. She has worked on the functional effect of phenolic compounds and other nutraceutical models in vitro and in vivo and in clinical trials. Currently, her research has focused on the understanding of complex biological systems, and the design and evaluation of active ingredients for functional foods, mainly using nanotechnology and multi-omics data, and with a circular economy perspective, she is part of the international network of Bionanotechnology focused on the generation of sustainable foods. In addition, he is a member of the Global Young Academy that recognizes young scientists who in less than 10 years of research have shown an outstanding scientific and social impact.
He has 3 granted patents and 1 more patent application. His innovative projects have earned him international recognition as Innovators under 35 LatAm 2017 given by the MIT Technology Review, this distinction was awarded for developing a Functional Bread for chronic diseases. This recognition is the highest recognition given to researchers and entrepreneurs in technology, innovation and entrepreneurship. She is founder of the technology company SERICEA. She has made technology transfers to small companies and even to transnational companies.
In the part of Teaching and Academic Management has served as a teacher, being recognized for her work in the classroom since 2014, has received by the SEP recognition as Desirable Profile for Professor of Higher Education since 2016 and is valid until 2022 and has held positions of academic management in a recognized university in Mexico UABC, where she was coordinator of chemistry laboratories for 2 years and later Deputy Director of the Faculty of Chemical Sciences and Engineering, the largest faculty of the UABC, in 2019, where she had the opportunity to lead 393 teachers and 3200 students of 6 careers in Engineering and Chemistry, in addition to accrediting them before national accreditors such as CACEI (4 engineering and 2 careers in the area of chemistry). She was Director of the Food Industry Engineering Program at Tecnológico de Monterrey, Campus Monterrey from February 2020 to December 2021, in this period of time she led the International Reaccreditation of the program before ABET and CACEI.
