BIOGRAPHY
Dr. Luz María Martínez is a Research Professor of Tecnológico de Monterrey at the Department of Chemistry and Nanotechnology, in Monterrey, Mexico. She graduated with honors from Tecnológico de Monterrey with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry. She received her Ph.D. in Chemistry from Arizona State University. During her Ph.D. at ASU she studied structural relaxation in the glass transformation range under the supervision of Dr. C. Austen Angell.
Dr. Martinez has worked in the glass industry in the development of analytical techniques to measure and control physical and chemical properties of colored glasses. Her current research focuses on the preparation and characterization of novel co-amorphous drug binary systems with enhanced thermal stability and solubility. The main goal of her research group is the design of amorphous multicomponent pharmaceutical formulations with potential use in combination therapy to treat high incidence diseases such hypertension, diabetes and hypercholesterolemia.
For her educational and scientific projects she has received several awards:
- National recognition as Inspiring Professor.
- Distinguished Novus-Professor (distinction for profile as an innovator in education).
- MUJER-TEC-2013 (mentoring category).
- First Place award of Scientific Integration in Technology Development.
