"With passion, dedication, and effort, the impossible can be achieved. Day by day, these three qualities support me in enriching the field in which I work: scientific research."
Irene Martín Del Estal holds a Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry from Complutense University of Madrid (Spain), a Master's degree in Molecular Medicine: Oxidative Damage and Bioprotection from San Pablo-CEU University (Madrid, Spain), and a Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences from Tecnológico de Monterrey (Mexico). She decided to embark on a career in scientific research. Her expertise over the years has allowed her to discover that, despite the obstacles one may encounter along the way, this discipline is very rewarding for researchers, doctors, and students alike, as all results obtained are valid and worthy of publication. Her area of specialization includes pathologies associated with pregnancy, such as intrauterine growth restriction and IGF-1 deficiency conditions.
Dr. Irene Martín Del Estal is part of the "Early Childhood" research group led by Dr. Julieta Rodríguez De Ita, where she participates in various projects related to the determination of biomarkers for early adversities in early childhood, as well as understanding the pathophysiology of developmental diseases.
Additionally, Dr. Irene Martín Del Estal has served as a professor in the Department of Basic Sciences, discovering another passion in teaching: the desire to create new specialists with ethical and human sensibilities, knowledgeable about the foundations necessary to conduct scientific research.
Currently, Dr. Irene Martín Del Estal, Director of the Bachelor's degree in Biosciences (LBC), has published 20 scientific articles and a book chapter. She has also participated in training human capital and researchers through activities such as Semana i and summer camps for the LBC program.
