Dueñas-Moreno, Jaime
Overview
Dr. Jaime Dueñas-Moreno is a Research Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering and Sustainable Technologies. He holds a Bachelor¿s degree in Chemical Engineering (Cum Laude) and a Master¿s degree in Environmental Engineering (Top Graduate) from the Technological University of Havana, Cuba. In 2021, he earned his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering Sciences (Cum Laude) from the National Polytechnic Institute of Mexico. His research focuses on the monitoring, occurrence, and fate of emerging contaminants and heavy metals in water bodies within regions of Mexico significantly impacted by human and natural activities. He also conducts ecological and human health risk assessments, providing local, regional, and national authorities with insights into the impacts of pollution and associated health risks at various conferences, events, and forums. Throughout his academic career, Dr. Dueñas-Moreno has received numerous awards and scholarships in recognition of his outstanding achievements. He is a member of the ¿Water360¿ research group and of Mexico¿s National Researchers System (SNII Level I). He is the author and co-author of articles published in high-impact journals indexed in Scopus (TOP 3% and TOP 10%). Additionally, he serves as an Early Career Editor for the journal Science of the Total Environment (Elsevier, Q1, Top 10). In 2024, he conducted a research stay in the Department of Environmental Science at Baylor University. Outside of his professional life, Dr. Dueñas-Moreno is described as a fun and sociable person who enjoys spending time with family and friends and participating in adventurous activities.
