León-Velasco, Diana Assaely

Overview

Dr. Diana Assaely León Velasco holds a Doctorate in Science (Mathematics) from Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana, Iztapalapa Campus, where she also completed a Master s degree in Science (Applied and Industrial Mathematics) and a Bachelor s degree in Mathematics. During her academic training, she received the University Merit Medal for outstanding academic performance in both her undergraduate and master s studies. She also completed a doctoral research stay at the University of Houston and a postdoctoral research stay at Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla, focused on the development, implementation, and validation of algorithms for identifying brain sources and anomalies from EEG signals. Her research work is situated in mathematical modeling, numerical analysis, applied and computational mathematics, applied statistics, optimization, and data science. Her research interests include the numerical solution of differential equations, inverse and control problems, numerical linear algebra, simulation of complex systems, and the application of artificial intelligence and machine learning techniques for data analysis in areas such as health, energy, optimization, and decision-making. She is a Level I member of the National System of Researchers (SNII) and holds the PRODEP recognition of Desirable Profile for Full-Time Professors. Among her distinctions are the Sofía Kovalévskaia Distinction, awarded to promote the participation of women in mathematical research in Mexico, as well as several recognitions for academic merit. She has published research articles in indexed and internationally recognized journals such as Expert Systems with Applications, IEEE Access, Applied Sciences, Physical Review E, Computación y Sistemas, ESAIM: Control, Optimisation and Calculus of Variations, Numerical Methods for Partial Differential Equations, Advances in Mathematical Physics, and Journal of Function Spaces, among others. Her scientific production addresses topics related to differential equations, control of diffusion processes on surfaces, inverse problems, optimization, data science, applied artificial intelligence, and advanced statistics. The teaching experience of the Dra. León Velasco has been developed at institutions such as Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana, Tecnológico de Monterrey, and Universidad Autónoma del Estado de Hidalgo, where she has taught courses in mathematics, statistics, optimization, numerical methods, operations research, and mathematical modeling. She has also contributed to the training of human resources through the direction and co-direction of undergraduate terminal projects, graduate thesis advising, and academic activities related to outreach, evaluation, and the strengthening of educational programs.
