Mariel Alfaro Ponce, Ph.D. is an Assistant Professor in the Biomedical Engineering Program at Tecnológico de Monterrey, Campus Ciudad de México. She holds a B.Sc. in Biomedical Engineering, an M.Sc. in Microelectronic Engineering, and a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the Instituto Politécnico Nacional, Mexico. Her research focuses on artificial intelligence, intelligent bioinstrumentation, and rehabilitation technologies. She is a Level I Member of the Mexican National System of Researchers (SNI) and a member of the IAMSM. Dr. Alfaro Ponce is also the co-founder of ProForms Dynamics, a technology-based company (EBCT) dedicated to the development of prostheses, orthoses, and osteofixation implants, incubated at Tecnológico de Monterrey, Campus Ciudad de México, since 2024. She currently serves as an Associate Editor for the IEEE Latin America Transactions.
