Pabel is a Chemical Eng. and holds a Ph.D. on Water Science and Technology and a M.Sc. on Water Sciences. He was also a postdoctoral fellow at the University of California Santa Barbara.
During Pabel's professional development, he has transited from the bioprocess for wastewater treatment and membrane technology, to the sustainable use and evaluation of nanotechnology for water treatment. Dr. Cervantes research focuses on understanding the effects of emerging contaminants in the environment, as well as the application of promising technologies to prevent and remediate the pollution. Pabel also likes teaching some courses and selected topics related to sustainable use of water, environmental chemistry, bioprocess and environmental engineering; all these topics for undergraduate and graduate students.
The achievements of Dr. Cervantes have been recognized in Mexico and in the globe. In Mexico, he received the Award to "The best PhD thesis in Environmental Engineering 2017", given by the national college of environmental eng., and the "Young Water Professional Mexico Award" to The best technically and scientifically feasible project in 2014, honored by the International Water Association. Internationally, Pabel was honored two consecutive times with the Best Platform Presentation Award in the editions of International Young Water Professionals Conference 2014 and 2017 held in Taipei and Cape Town, respectively. By the contributions of his work, Dr. Cervantes was also granted to to present his work in the IWA Micropollution and Ecohazard conference 2019 and in the Sustainable Nanotechnology Organization in 2017 and 2019. Currently, Pabel is member of the mexican national research system level 1.
About personality, Pabel considers himself a funny and sociable person. He likes to share time with family, friends and get in touch with nature as well.
