Cuevas Cancino-Esteva, María de la O Laura del Carmen

Overview

Laura Cuevas is a Veterinarian by profession from the National Autonomous University of Mexico. She holds a Master's degree in Environmental Management from Stirling University in the United Kingdom, focusing her thesis on the use of the Ecological Footprint in Italy. Laura has been a teacher for 20 years, beginning her career at the Universidad Juárez Autonoma de Tabasco, where she participated in various social, sustainable development, and species conservation projects. She has been working at the Tec de Monterrey for 11 years, initially as an adjunct professor, and for the past 6 years as a full-time associate professor at the Santa Fe Campus within the Department of Sustainable and Civil Technologies, where she specializes in sustainable development projects. In 2021, she was awarded the Inspiring Professor Award. In 2023, she became part of the Circle of Distinguished Professors and received the Dejando Huella recognition from Tec de Monterrey. She has collaborated with various institutions such as FUNACOMM A.C., PROMESA, UN Habitat, among others, on different projects, such as the Conservation of the Monarch Butterfly, a project for which she won the 2018 Latin America Green Awards. In 2022, she participated in the creation of the CODES Action Plan with the United Nations and is currently part of the Digital Literacy Alliance of Future Earth. She has also participated in various national and international projects encompassing social, sustainability, and environmental education aspects and has been a speaker at international conferences such as EDUCON and ICEDU.
