Güemes-Castorena, David

Overview

Dr. David Güemes studied his BS and MS in Chemical Engineering from ITESM, and obtained a Doctorate of Science in Engineering Management with focus on Technological Innovation Management of George Washington University in Washington, DC. He worked with the Academy for Educational Development for over 6 years in the implementation and development of executive education management information systems in Benin, Lesotho, Zambia, Uganda, the Philippines and Malawi. He has designed systems to support decision-making in the area of education at the strategic-level in Mexico, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Washington, DC and several African countries. He has collaborated on more than 10 projects of the World Bank, the IDB and the ADB. In 2004 he joined the ITESM Campus Monterrey where he specialized in the area of the prospective planning of technological innovation. Since 2005 she has been an evaluator member and technical adviser to the National Award for Technology and Innovation, in which he has coordinated 6 of the 7 categories of participation. It is also accredited evaluator for CONACYT projects. He has developed regional development planning systems, which have been implemented in various states of Mexico. He has participated in the team that developed the Phase II Monterrey International City of Knowledge, a project strongly supported by the IDB in 2008. In his consulting activities, Dr. Güemes has advised SMEs and Large corporations in strategic innovation management. On the international arena, Dr. Güemes has been invited by the Al- Invest program of the European Union to provide training courses and prospective planning advice to various companies and intermediary organizations in Mexico, Cuba, Costa Rica, Panama, Guatemala, Honduras, Colombia, Bolivia, Ecuador, Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay, Paraguay, Peru, Chile, El Salvador, Venezuela, and Spain. Currently, he is in a research project at the SLOAN School of Management, MIT Innovation Initiative.
