Portuguez-Castro, May Iliana

Overview

PhD in Educational Innovation from Tecnológico de Monterrey recognized with the CONACYT scholarship. Member of the National System of Researchers (SNI-1). She has a Master's Degree in Business Administration with emphasis in finance from the Universidad Latinoamericana de Ciencia y Tecnología (ULACIT, Costa Rica) and a Master's Degree in Educational Technology, with emphasis in corporate training from the Tecnológico de Monterrey, Mexico with Honorable Mention of Excellence. She holds a Bachelor's Degree in Public Administration from the University of Costa Rica and a Bachelor's Degree in Public Administration Teaching from the Universidad Estatal a Distancia (UNED Costa Rica). She currently works as an Impact Measurement Research Scientist and Experimentation Mentor for Novus projects in Experimentation and Measurement of Impact of the Institute for the Future of Education of the Tecnológico de Monterrey.She has 20 years of experience as an administrator of Costa Rican and transnational commercial and service companies. In 2010 she founded her own e-learning training company where she has worked as a virtual tutor and instructional designer, as well as a consultant for SMEs and entrepreneurs. She has worked as a teacher in continuous training with 10 years of experience. She is a certified virtual tutor by the OAS, in Business Development Services-SDE of the ILO and leadership in digital transformation by MIT. She has several specializations in e-learning training and use of ICT in education. She has conducted research activities collaborating for the State of Education Report in Costa Rica and with the School of Humanities and Education of the Tecnológico de Monterrey. She collaborated from 2017 to 2019 as editor of the Journal of Educational Research of the Tecnológico de Monterrey. She conducted a research stay in 2019 at the Center for Global Innovation and Entrepreneurship at the University of Texas at Austin with a research on the entrepreneurial ecosystem in Mexico. She has developed educational innovation projects in the training of entrepreneurs using active pedagogies and collaborated in liaison projects with organizations related to entrepreneurial support in Mexico. She has collaborated in the proposal of research projects, published scientific articles and arbitration in international journals of impact. She is part of the Educational Innovation and Research Group of Tecnológico de Monterrey in the research line of use and development of technology. Her lines of research are: educational innovation, e-learning and entrepreneurship education.
