Abaunza-González, Hernán

Overview

Hernán Abaunza González graduated as a mechatronics engineer from the Tecnológico de Monterrey in 2012. He received a Master of Science degree in Autonomous Aerial and Submarine Navigation Systems from CINVESTAV-IPN in 2014, and a Doctorate in Robotics and Automation from the Université de Technologie de Compiègne (UTC), in France, in 2019. He has worked as a teaching and research assistant at the Université de Technologie de Compiègne, as a post-doctoral researcher at the Institut Pascal, in Clermont-Ferrand, France, and as senior research engineer at FADA-CATEC, in Seville, Spain. The main topics in his research work have been related to drone control and navigation, such as the development of control laws for agile flight based on quaternions, trajectory generation algorithms, formation flight techniques for drone fleets, among others. He is the author and co-author of several scientific articles in international journals and conferences, as well as book chapters. Since 2021, he is a full-time professor at the Tecnológico de Monterrey, Guadalajara campus, currently Director of the Robotics and Digital Systems Engineering Program, and member of Mexico's National Researchers System (SNI-1).

He received the MsC degree in Autonomous Aerial and Submarine Navigation Systems from CINVESTAV-IPN in 2014, and the PhD in Robotics and Automation from the Université de Technologie de Compiègne (UTC), in France, in 2019. He has worked as a teaching and research assistant at the Université de Technologie de Compiègne, as a post-doctoral researcher at the Pascal Institute, in Clermont-Ferrand, France, and as a senior research engineer at FADA-CATEC, in Seville, Spain. The main topics in his research work have been related to drone control and navigation, such as development of control laws for agile flight, trajectory generation algorithms, formation flight techniques for drone fleets, among others. He is the author and co-author of several articles in international magazines and conferences, as well as book chapters. Since 2021, he has been a professor in the mechatronics department of the Tecnológico de Monterrey, Campus Guadalajara.
