Farfán-Cabrera, Leonardo Israel

Research professor (SNI 1) of mechanical and automotive engineering at the Tecnológico de Monterrey since 2018. He is the leader of the Automotive and Manufacturing Tribology Laboratory. He is currently engaged in electric vehicle tribology research, biolubricants and tribology tester innovation. He has participated in research, technological development and consulting / training projects for the automotive and lubrication industry. He has a master's and doctorate in mechanical engineering awarded by the IPN in CDMX. He has been a visiting researcher at the University of Sheffield, Texas A&M University, and the Universidad Nacional del Sur in Argentina. In 2018, he received the "Best PhD Thesis" award from the IPN, and the "Inspiring Professor" award from the Tec de Monterrey in 2021. He has 2 Mexican and 1 US patents, and a total of 50 publications in prestigious journals. He is currently Associate Editor of the journals: "Journal of Engineering Tribology" and "Mechanics and Industry".

Young research professor CONACYT-SNI (level 1) of mechanical and automotive engineering at Tecnologico de Monterrey since 2018. He is founder and head of the Laboratory of automotive tribology (E-Mobility) at Tecnologico de Monterrey. He is currently dedicated to research of tribology of electric vehicles, bio-lubricants and innovation of tribological testers. He has participated in 5 projects of research, technological development and consulting/capacitation for the automotive and lubrication industry. He has master's and doctorate degrees in mechanical engineering awarded by IPN in CDMX in 2014 and 2018, respectively. He was visitor research schoolar in 2013 and 2017 at the University of Sheffield, UK. He was awarded by "The best doctoral thesis" by IPN in 2018 and "Inspiring professor" in 2021 by Tec de Monterrey. He has 1 patent (tribometer) and a total of 37 publication in prestigiuos journals (Q1/Q2), from which 25 are related to tribology. He has participated as speaker in 8 prestigious international conferences of tribology since 2016, and has been invited as keynote speaker in 2 international conferences in 2019 and 2021 to speak about Tribology of electric vehicles. This year, he has been named as Associate Editor of the journals "Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part J: Journal of Engineering Tribology" and "Mechanics and Industry"; Guest Editor for the journals "Frontiers in Mechanical Engineering" and "Frontiers in Chemical Engineering" and Technical Editor of the "Tribology and Lubrication Technology Magazine (TLT)" of STLE.
