Nieto-Jalil, José Manuel

Overview

Dr. José Manuel Nieto Jalil is a full professor and a member of the National System of Researchers since 2008. Throughout his career, he has held various national and international positions, including department director, vice dean of academic affairs, vice dean of research, vice-rector, vice manager of marbles, research professor, and currently, regional director of science. His academic experience spans institutions in Cuba, Spain, and Mexico, having been part of the Tecnológico de Monterrey since 2002. His excellence as an educator is reflected in his ECOAS evaluations, consistently maintaining an average score above 9.5. He has published over 44 articles in indexed journals, presented 38 papers at national and international conferences in countries such as Mexico, Cuba, Spain, Japan, Portugal, Kuwait, Greece, and the United States, among others, and authored more than 760 scientific outreach articles. Additionally, he has served as an evaluator for graduate scholarships, postdoctoral stays, and CONACYT projects, as well as research projects for the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology of the Dominican Republic over the past three years. He is a member of the New Molecules Committee of COFEPRIS and has led or participated in more than 20 funded projects in research, educational innovation, and technology. His commitment to teaching has earned him a place in the Distinguished Professors Circle for the past four years, and he has twice received the "Professors Who Leave a Mark" distinction. He is a reviewer for national and international publishing houses and has been recognized with more than 50 awards from Tecnológico de Monterrey, including Professor of the Year, Inspirational Professor, and the NOVUS Award for his outstanding contributions to educational innovation. Under his leadership in the Department of Science of the Central-South Region and, currently, in the Central-West Region, he has driven unprecedented growth, with increases exceeding 120% in various indicators, some even surpassing 200%. Currently, he is part of the Entry Academic Affairs Team (EAAE) for the new 2026 curricula at Tecnológico de Monterrey and is responsible for the monitoring and design of eight courses within this new curricular structure.
